Kent School was established in 1906 in Kent, Connecticut. It is now considered to be one of the top boarding schools in the country that offers a rigorous college preparatory academic curriculum. Its values education is rooted in the Episcopal Church teachings but is not a religious institution. Students are encouraged to explore their own faith and spirituality through various interfaith activities. Small class sizes allow for close supervision and better support from teachers as they guide students toward academic success. Kent School is known for its arts program, which includes music, theater, and visual arts, where students are encouraged to think creatively and pursue their artistic interests. Its athletic program includes both indoor and outdoor sports and houses an Olympic-sized swimming pool, tennis courts, and an ice rink.

Testing Policy: Standardized test scores are optional. For applicants opting to submit scores, our SSAT school code is 4336.
11th or 12th grade (5th and 6th Form) or Post-Graduate applicants opting to submit standardized testing should send SAT, PSAT, or ACT scores directly to the Admissions Office. We will also continue to require TOEFL testing (we are currently accepting all forms of TOEFL, including the TOEFL iBT Special Home Edition, as well as Duolingo) for all students for whom English is not their first language. Our school code for the TOEFL test is 8039 and Kent does utilize TOEFL superscoring.
Essay Questions: Student Short Essays and Applicant’s Essay are available on Gateway to Prep and Standard Application Online (SAO) admissions portal.
