ACT English
The ACT English section contains 75 questions answered in 45 minutes, covering grammar, punctuation, sentence structure, and rhetorical skills. We prepare students for the specific question types that appear most frequently, including usage and mechanics questions and rhetorical skills questions, and teach strategies for working efficiently through long passages under time pressure.
ACT Math
The ACT Math section contains 60 questions answered in 60 minutes, covering pre-algebra, elementary algebra, intermediate algebra, coordinate geometry, plane geometry, and trigonometry. Calculators are permitted throughout. We prepare students for the full range of content areas and develop calculator strategy, knowing when to use it and when direct reasoning is faster, as a core part of math preparation.
ACT Reading
The ACT Reading section contains 40 questions answered in 35 minutes across four passages covering literary narrative, social science, humanities, and natural science. At under a minute per question, pacing is the primary challenge. We prepare students to identify key information efficiently, understand the passage structure quickly, and apply elimination strategies under genuine time pressure.
ACT Science
The ACT Science section contains 40 questions answered in 35 minutes. Despite its name, the section tests data interpretation and scientific reasoning more than specific science content knowledge. Students analyze graphs, tables, and experimental results. We prepare students to navigate the data-heavy format efficiently, identify what each question is actually asking, and avoid common traps that slow students down in this section.
Optional ACT Writing Test
The ACT Writing test requires students to write a persuasive essay responding to a given prompt in 40 minutes. Students who are strong writers and are applying to colleges that require or recommend the Writing section are encouraged to include it. We help students develop a clear essay structure, practice on representative prompts, and build the speed and precision needed to produce a strong essay under timed conditions.
ACT Accommodations
Students with documented learning differences, ADHD, or other qualifying conditions may be eligible for testing accommodations, including extended time, separate testing rooms, or other modifications. We work with families navigating the accommodations process and develop coaching strategies that help students make effective use of their approved accommodations on test day.
